YARA N-Sensor, mobile platform based system for on-line
determination of nitrogen fertilizer input

The YARA N-Sensor detects the Chlorophyll
content of plants, determines the nutrient requirements
and controls the Nitrogen fertilizer dispenser while being
driven through a field. The measurement system is ideally
matched to the extreme conditions as humidity, dust, high
mechanical stress, and electronic interference as well as
misuse.
The YARA N-Sensor was developed for Hydro
Agri Deutschland GmbH, now YARA, transferred to production
and manufactured in quantity by tec5 in less than 2 years.
This measurement system received many awards and put our
partner several years ahead of its competitors.

HandySpec VIS, a high-quality
hand-held device for spectral analysis, allows the
performance of exact transmission measurements in
liquids.

Portable measurement devices allow the measurement
of spectra at different locations quickly and precisely.
They create new possibilities for On-line analysis (e.g.
control of incoming goods). The taking of samples and then
evaluating them in the laboratory is no longer necessary
for many applications.
In the future portable devices for the UV-VIS
as well as the NIR range will be available. The HandySpec
is an ideal hardware platform for an application specific
design.

Example: CompactSpec I UV-VIS
The 'CompactSpec' is directly connected
to a tube and performs on-line transmission measurements
in liquids for determination of the concentration of dissolved
materials. The waterproof housing requires low heat generating
components. Our compact design simplifies the integration
of the process. Real time reference is maintained by a dual-channel
configuration (integrated electronic multiplexer). The MOE
1 electronics allows a data exchange via RS-485 with a process
control center.

Compact measurement device
'CompactSpec I UV-VIS' for on-line concentration determination
in liquids

This measurement device for the UV-VIS range
was produced in weeks for BASF using a Fiberlight from Heraeus
as low-power light source, a special fiber splitter of Prinz
Optics and a Hellma process immersion probe, as well as,
MMS spectral sensors from Carl Zeiss.
