General Hints

 

Hardware, general:

• please check hardware first with AdminTool software, this software tool can be found on the t5U InfoCD or on the tec5 website for downloading

FEE boards:

• the Front End Electronics Boards are available in various version, i.e, different type of connectors. Please check FEE versions for details

CCD preamplifier boards:

Software:

• please check regularly for latest updates of drivers and other software tools on the tec5 website www.tec5.com

Firmware:

• from time to time tec5 upgrades and expandes the firmware of the electronic boards
• please contact us in case you are interested in features so far not supported

Cables:

• try to keep cable length as short as possible
• please apply shielding when cables are longer than 50cm
• by the way: the longest PCI cable tested and still OK was 8m long
• and USB cables are by sepcification no longer than 5m

Grounding:

• is very important for a proper video signal
• combine all GND lines to a central location, mainly at the metal chassis of your instrument housing

Integration Times:

• minimum readout time (except for InGaAs arrays)
• maximum integration time 6.5sec as standard
• maximum integration can be extended to 65 seconds (see MS_Pro_datasheet for use with MultiSpec Pro software, see PI_Infosheet for use with Programmer Interface)

Troubleshooting

 

Software:

• Integration times too short for a certain hardware cause an EOS error.
• Make sure to use always the latest drivers and software tools - which can be downloaded from the tec5 website www.tec5.com

CCD Electronics:

• To upload th firmware the FEE boards require a little bit of time (less than a second). In case all electronics components (Operating Electronics with FEE and USB, supplied through USB board on one side and the CCD preamplifier consisting of Sensor, Logic and Power Supply Board) are powered up at the same time, it may cause a problem. The preamplifier board doesn't find the FFE baord. To avoid this power on the preamplifier boards slightly delayed (a couple of second).
• Please make sure that all solder jum,pers a set to match the used sensor chip. Please make also sure that the EEPROM contains the same settings. These settings can be altered by the AdminTool software.
